Zachary Gurard-Levin, PhD is the Founder and Managing Director of Tesserae Innovations LLC, a consultancy that specializes in developing efficient, data-driving research plans, amplifying business development efforts, designing creative marketing solutions, and communicating value with clarity and confidence to ensure life science companies achieve their full commercial potential.
He brings over two decades of experience working at the interface of science and business in small and publicly traded contract research organizations along with academic institutions with a focus in early phase drug discovery research programs. From developing peptides as protein-protein interaction inhibitors, building peptide arrays to profile the substrate specificity of post-translational modifying enzymes, to leading high-throughput screening campaigns utilizing innovative affinity selection mass spectrometry (ASMS) approaches, Gurard-Levin brings in depth experience in screening ligand-target interactions and implementing automation solutions.
Gurard-Levin previously served as the Science Director on the Small Molecule Discovery team at Charles River and was the Chief Scientific Officer of SAMDI Tech, Inc, where he played a critical role in its acquisition by Charles River Labs. Gurard-Levin has authored over 30 peer reviewed articles and has served as a PI, successfully completing multiple Phase I and Phase II small business innovation research (SBIR) grants. He also serves as a Board Member for the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS).
Gurard-Levin earned his PhD in chemistry from the University of Chicago and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institut Curie in Paris, France.
